Germany, also known as the Land of Ideas, has a long and rich history of innovation and technology. The country takes education and research seriously, and it shows in its world-class universities and scientific institutions. With a strong emphasis on STEM fields, Germany is home to some of the best technical universities in the world, attracting students from all over the globe.

Technical universities in Germany, also known as “Technische Universitäten” or “TU” for short, focus on natural sciences, engineering, and technology. These universities are responsible for producing skilled graduates who are ready to tackle real-world problems. Most Tus have a strong reputation for research and development, with a significant amount of funding being allocated toward cutting-edge projects.

The reality of technology and technical universities in Germany can be seen in the country’s numerous success stories. The German automotive industry is a prime example of the country’s technological prowess, with brands such as BMW, Mercedes-Benz, and Volkswagen leading the way in innovation and quality. It is no surprise that many of these companies work closely with technical universities, providing real-world experience and opportunities for students.

Moreover, Germany has a robust presence in the field of renewable energy. The country is a leader in solar and wind power, and this success can be traced back to the research and development carried out in aforementioned Tus. Moreover, the country’s consistently low unemployment rate can be attributed, in part, to the strength of its technical universities, where graduates are well-equipped to enter the workforce.

The technology landscape of Germany is continuously evolving with the country’s dedication to innovation and technology. Many universities are investing in artificial intelligence, robotics, and quantum computing, signaling the country’s commitment to staying ahead of the curve. Additionally, Tus often collaborate with other institutions worldwide, exchange students, and promote scientific exchange.

In conclusion, the reality of technology and technical universities in Germany is one of excellence, innovation, and scientific rigor. The country’s long-standing commitment to research and development, coupled with its unrivaled technical universities, have put Germany at the forefront of innovation. With a thriving economy, world-renowned universities, and steady investments into the latest technologies, Germany is well-positioned to maintain its position as a world leader in science and technology. The impact of Tus in Germany is undeniable, from the automotive industry to renewable energy to aerospace – all of these technological advancements can be traced back to research conducted and education provided by Tus.

The cooperation protocol between AUT University and ElChabiba ElEhdeniya association aims to support outstanding students in schools and help them complete their university education. The protocol was signed at a ceremony held at the EDEN restaurant on the banks of Lake Bnachii.
The ceremony was attended by the president of the association, Roy Araygi, the university vice president for external relations, Marcel Hnein, the director of the university branch in the north, Dr. Bassem bakhach, director of admission office and public relations in the north branch Mr Salim Ayoub, member of Zgharta municipality Mrs. Marianne Sarkis, Director of the official institution for preparing teachers in Zgharta, Polett Ayoub, as well as principals and representatives of schools in Zgharta district and members of the association.
During the ceremony, Araygi expressed gratitude to the university for their valuable initiative and the trust they have placed in the association. He believes that these scholarships will greatly benefit outstanding students from various villages in the Zgharta district.

Hnein also emphasized the importance of supporting students, especially in difficult circumstances. He highlighted the various specialties offered by the university and praised the efforts of the youth in local affairs.
Furthermore, there was a discussion about university education and the new curricula adopted by AUT University, which includes new specializations that meet the current requirements.
Overall, this cooperation protocol between AUT University and ElChabiba ElEhdeniya association aims to provide support and opportunities for outstanding students, ultimately contributing to their academic and career success.

تصدر "معهد ماساتشوستس للتكنولوجيا" التصنيف العالمي لأفضل الجامعات للمرة الثانية عشرة على التوالي لعام 2024، وفقاً للتصنيف الذي تصدره "QS"، فيما احتفظت جامعة كامبريدج بالمركز الثاني، وارتفع ترتيب جامعة أكسفورد مركزاً واحداً إلى المرتبة الثالثة.

وبشكل عام سجلت الجامعات في المراكز العشرة الأولى تقدماً في النقاط، حيث حصل معهد "MIT" على 100 نقطة بالمثل لنفس العام الماضي، بينما ارتفع تقييم "كامبريدج" إلى 99.2 نقطة من 98.8 نقطة العام الماضي.

وهيمنت المؤسسات الأوروبية والأميركية على المراكز العشرة الأولى على مستوى العالم، وتعد جامعة سنغافورة الوطنية هي الجامعة الآسيوية الوحيدة التي تنضم إلى أول 10 مراكز.
وتضمنت قائمة "QS" نحو 1500 جامعة، وتم تقييم الجامعات عبر 3 مقاييس جديدة، وهي: الاستدامة ونتائج التوظيف وشبكة البحث الدولية، وتعتمد النتائج على تحليل 17.5 مليون ورقة أكاديمية وآراء الخبراء لأكثر من 240 ألف عضو من أعضاء هيئة التدريس والموظفين الأكاديميين.

وعربياً، جاءت جامعة الملك عبدالعزيز في المركز 143، تليها جامعة قطر، في المركز 173 عالمياً، ثم جامعة الملك فهد للبترول والمعادن في الترتيب 180، وجامعة الملك سعود 203، تلتها الجامعة الأميركية في بيروت بالمركز 226، كما احتلت جامعة خليفة المركز 230، وجامعة الإمارات العربية المتحدة 290، وجامعة حمد بن خليفة في المرتبة 310، والجامعة الأميركية في الشارقة 364، وجامعة القاهرة في المرتبة 371 عالمياً.

وانضمت جامعات الشارقة، والسلطان قابوس، والأردن، والجامعة الأميركية بالقاهرة، ضمن أفضل 500 جامعة في العالم، ليصبح العدد الإجمالي لها 14 جامعة.

UOB was thrilled to announce that 1296 students have successfully graduated from the University of Balamand at our 32nd Commencement Ceremony.

The event began with a special blessing by His Beatitude John X Yazigi, Patriarch of Antioch and all the East. valedictorians, Ms. Sarah Kanj and Ms. Loana Khlat from the Académie Libanaise des Beaux-Arts, delivered an inspiring dialogue that captured the essence of their journey at UOB.
UOB was honored to have Dr. Moise Khayrallah as a keynote speaker, sharing his expertise and wisdom with UOB graduates. The evening was made even more memorable with a captivating guest performance by the talented Ghassan Rahbani.

Nursing Student at the University of Balamand, Sabine Wannous was honored with the LION'S CLUB Award for the year 2023 in recognition of her outstanding academic and professional achievements.

The ceremony took place at the American University of Beirut's Alumni Hall, under the theme "Our Nurses Our Future." Every year, the Lion's Club of Beirut recognizes and celebrates the nursing profession by granting awards to exceptional students from seven nursing programs across Lebanon. This year, Sabine Wannous was selected by the nursing faculty to receive the Lion's Award, based on her high academic performance, active involvement in the university life, professional conduct, and commitment to personal development.

As has become a yearly tradition, a group of students from the School of Tourism and Hotel Management at the University of Balamand embarked on a 3 month internship in France earlier this month.

The internship is hosted by Ferrieres, France, in collaboration with ACCELIS Group. Through this training program, the students will gain hands-on experience in delivering premium hospitality services on an international scale. Sponsored by the University of Balamand and Accelis, this program has now become an integral part of the curriculum at the School of Tourism and Hotel Management at UOB.

Internships and training programs within such a world-class framework are of utmost importance for the personal and professional development of students aiming to work in the ever-evolving tourism and hospitality industry. Each year, more than 40 students undergo training as part of the school's agreements with national and international leaders in the hospitality industry.

In an effort to discuss the future of healthcare in Lebanon, Dr. Youssef Bassim, the Chief Operating Officer and Assistant to the President of University of Balamand for Health Affairs participated in a Health retreat organized by the Ministry of Public Health.

The event, titled "Digital Health in Lebanon: The Way Forward," served as a platform for initiating a crucial dialogue on digital health and paving the way for a comprehensive national digital health strategy. As a panelist, Dr. Bassim delivered a presentation on "Telemedicine: Breaking Access Barriers." His lecture shed light on how telehealth can overcome geographical, financial, and logistical challenges, thereby enhancing access to healthcare services for individuals across diverse populations. Dr. Bassim emphasized the transformative impact of telemedicine, a field that combines medicine and technology to provide remote healthcare services, bridging the gap between patients and healthcare providers and reducing the cost of healthcare significantly. Additionally, Dr. Bassim also presented the "Revitalizing Medical and health service Offering via Telehealth - REMOTE Project," which was implemented by the Public Health Department at the Faculty of Health Sciences in collaboration with US Aid, UN Migration, SASTA, Hera, Order of Malta in Lebanon, and the Ministry of Public Health. This project aims to develop a scalable and replicable evidence-based model for integrating telehealth in primary health centers in low-resource settings, using Lebanon as a case study.

Within the framework of the joint degree conducted between the University of Balamand in Lebanon and the University of Limoges in France, the three students Gaelle Derjany, Nicole Tannous, and Charbel Hakmeh from the civil and construction department at Issam Fares Faculty of Technology (IFFT), at the University of Balamand, have been preselected to undertake a student mobility in France at the end of which they will have the professional Bachelor MPGE, MURE Track from the University of Limoges.

The University of Balamand (UOB) and the University of La Rochelle (ULR) in France signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to establish a formal framework that advances academic collaboration between the two forward-thinking young universities.

This MOU crowns a history of outstanding cooperation between the two institutions that goes back to 2013. The MOU marks the beginning of a new era of collaboration between the two universities, especially as this is the first MOU that ULR has signed with a university from Lebanon. The visit was part of a mobility to La Rochelle organized by the Erasmus+ Project SWATH that UOB is coordinating.

The University of Balamand (UOB), represented by its President, Dr. Elias Warak, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Communauté Hellénique de Bienfaisance de Beyrouth, represented by its President, Mr. Banayoti Androti, in the presence of the Greek Ambassador to Lebanon, H.E. Ms. Catherine Fountoulaki, in addition to representatives from both parties.

The aim of this agreement is to strengthen the academic collaboration between the two institutions, by providing students holding the Greek nationality with discounts on their academic studies at UOB. Additionally, this partnership will pave the way for future joint activities in cultural, educational, and athletic domains.
