The University’s academic programs and awarded degrees are recognized and accredited by the Lebanese Ministry of Education and Higher Learning.

Additionally the Accrediting Association of Seventh-day Adventist Schools, Colleges and Universities (AAA), Maryland, USA, has granted tertiary status to the University.

The University also has an association agreement with La Sierra University (LSU) in California, USA. This denotes that LSU has examined and approved the curricula of the university and is satisfied that the policies announced in the University’s Academic Catalog are academically sound.

Beside the association with LSU, the University also maintains an international partnership with Andrews University (AU), Michigan, USA, which allows students to pursue an external BBA or BA degree directly through MEU.

The University is a member of the Arab Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (Arab ACRAO), the Federation Sportive Universitaire du Liban (FSUL) and the Association of Lebanese Universities.

General Requirements

To be eligible for a bachelor’s degree (BA, BS, and BBA) from the university, a student must complete or achieve:

• The degree’s general education, department requirements (core and concentration), electives, and cognates during a minimum period of six semesters. A maximum period of six academic years is allowed to complete the bachelor’s degree, beginning with the freshman class; five academic years beginning with the sophomore class; three beginning with the junior class; and two beginning with the senior class. Failure to comply with the permitted period requires the student to petition the Academic Affairs Committee for further consideration.
• The Freshman Class Program (30 credits), if required, during a minimum period of one academic year.
• The final two semesters in residence at the university.
• At least 30 upper-division credits of the major area in residence.
• A minimum cumulative grade-point average of 2.00 (“C”) in all courses used to meet the degree requirements and a minimum of 2.25 with no grades lower than “C-” in the major or the department requirements (core and concentration), cognates, and department electives.

Haigazian

On October 17, 1955 Haigazian University was established in Beirut, Lebanon by the joint endeavors of the Armenian Missionary Association of America (AMAA) and the Union of the Armenian Evangelical Churches in the Near East (UAECNE). This eastern Mediterranean institution is a liberal arts university which emphasizes a challenging curriculum, good teacher-student relations, and empowerment through the free search for truth.

The leadership at Haigazian believes that the free exchange of ideas among people from a multiplicity of ethnic and religious backgrounds is one of the best forms education can take; consequently, Haigazian is home campus to students from 20 countries throughout the world. These students enjoy a student-teacher ratio of 14 to 1 which facilitates the university emphasis on a personalized, meaningful education.

Haigazian University offers B.A., B.B.A., B.S., M.A. and M.B.A. degrees as well as a teacher’s Normal Diploma. Founded in 1988, The University of Balamand has grown dramatically over the years and today, with ten faculties and one institute, has around 5700 students distributed over four campuses. The University offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in 162 majors.

The Office of Admissions and Registration located on the ground floor of the Administration building (Room 022), the Office of Admissions and Registration is your first destination whenever you visit the University of Balamand (UOB).

The criteria for acceptance at the University of Balamand are the entrance examinations assigned by the University (SAT or other Exams), the secondary school grades, and the class rank.

New AUB Loan Program
Loans are available to undergraduate students from all faculties and majors in addition to medical students, provided they satisfy the qualification criteria below.

The Financial Aid and Scholarships Office collects data from the application filled out by the student and parent, as well as supporting documents and a personal interview with the applicant and his/her parent(s) or guardian. The data is then assessed, and the result is used as a guideline in the decision-making process. Final decisions are made by a committee of LAU administrators and a faculty representative.

Objectives

It is the philosophy of Notre Dame University that students should not be denied the opportunity of furthering their university education because of limited financial resources. The Student Financial Aid Program was established to meet the goal of this philosophy by providing qualified students with financial aid regardless of color, race, gender, religion, nationality, or political affiliation.
The following is a brief description of the various financial aid policy for undergraduate students.

The University of Balamand offers partial or full financial aid to

eligible students whose financial situation cannot cover educational

costs. In 2009-2010, financial aid totaled $4,469,000:

$3,599,000 in direct aid and $870,000 in the form of graduate

assistantships and student work.
