Required Documents

New students holding the Official Lebanese Government Secondary Certificate (Previously Lebanese Baccalaureate part II) or any other recognized government secondary certificate and applying for undergraduate study must submit a formal application (available online), along with:

1. Individual extract of record that is no older than 6months

2. Family extract of record that is no older than 6 months

3. Certified copy of passport for non-Lebanese applicants


4. Four recent passport size photos

5. School record for the last two years (certified by the school)

6. Certified copy of the applicant's Official Lebanese Government Secondary Certificate  (Previously Lebanese Baccalaureate part II) or its equivalent

7. Application fee of $50

Freshman Students


All Lebanese and non-Lebanese applicants to the freshman class who pursued their education on the basis of a foreign non-Lebanese program must fulfill the following conditions prior to their admission to the freshman class:

1. Hold a secondary school certificate or diploma based on 12 years of schooling, beginning with the elementary one class. The certificate or diploma must be awarded by governments or recognized private schools.

2. Obtain “permission” from the Lebanese Equivalence Committee of the Lebanese Ministry of Higher Education allowing them to pursue their higher education on the basis of foreign (non-Lebanese) program. This permission may be obtained by applicants who can prove evidence of having lived and studied in a foreign country for a minimum of 2 years of secondary education, or a minimum of 3 years for elementary education.

3. Take the required SAT reason of test (critical reading, mathematical, and writing) and the SAT II (subject tests) prior to their admission to the freshman class.

The SAT II tests required for freshman arts are:

  • Math I or IC obligatory
  • Two other subjects to be chosen from the variety of  SAT II subject tests

The SAT II tests required for freshman science are:

  • Math II C obligatory
  • Two from Biology, Chemistry, Physics

Note I: All new applicants to the Freshman class at the American University of Science and Technology (AUST) must sit for the SAT I tests during their last year at high school and should enter the AUST's code 4973 and ask the Educational Testing Service (E.T.S) to send their scores directly to the Office of the Registrar at AUST.

Similarly, applicants sitting for the TOEFL or IBT should enter the AUST's code 8593 and ask the Educational Testing Service (E.T.S) to send their scores directly to the Office of the Registrar at AUST.

Note II: In order to have their freshman year equated to the Lebanese Government Secondary Certificate (Bacc. II), candidates should fulfill the following four conditions:

a- Obtain permission from the Lebanese Equivalence

Committee allowing them to pursue their higher education on the basis of a foreign non- Lebanese program.

b- Receive a recognized Secondary School Certificate (High School Diploma based on 12 years of schooling starting with Grade I) certified by the Lebanese Ministry of Education.

c- i) Sit for the required SAT I & II tests listed below and should enter the AUST's code 4973 and ask the Educational Testing Service (E.T.S) to send their scores directly to the Office of the Registrar at AUST.

SAT I reasoning tests required for Arts and Sciences

SAT II tests

Total score of SAT I & SAT II tests

Critical Reading Mathematics Writing

Required for Arts Math I or IC and two other subject tests

Required for Sciences Math IIC and two from Biology, Chemistry or Physics

For Arts

2750 in the 6 components of the SAT I & SAT II tests

For Sciences

2850 in the 6 components of the SAT I & SAT II tests

ii) Obtain a total score of 2750 in the combined SAT I & II Tests required from those who are following the Arts stream and 2850 in the combined SAT I & II Tests required from those who are following the Science stream.

d- Complete the freshman year with a minimum of 30 credit hours to include 9 credits from the Humanities and Social Sciences with no less than 3 credits in each, and 6 credits from the Natural Sciences and Mathematics of which a minimum of 3 credits must be in Natural Sciences.

Humanities are: Languages, Literature, Philosophy, and History.

Natural Sciences are: Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Geology, Astronomy, and Nutrition.

Social Sciences are: Business, Economics, Political Science, Public Administration, Psychology, Sociology, Anthropology, Geography, and Management.

Mathematics is: Pre-Calculus, Calculus I, and Calculus II.

Additional Electives: Art or Music but not to exceed 3 credit hours.

Note III: Freshman students must fulfill the SAT requirements and complete the 30 freshman level credits before they may register in sophomore level courses.

Note IV: Freshman students who are heading towards the science programs namely Computer Science & CCE etc. must take the appropriate Math and Natural Sciences courses based on their final scores on the entrance exams.

Lebanese BT3 Students


Pursuant to Decree no. 1936 dated 8/6/1965 and attached to resolution no. 69/2002 dated 1/7/2002, issued by the Ministry of Education, students holding the Technical Baccalaureate certificate are eligible for admission to AUST. However, such students have to enroll in the field of specialization that is defined to them by the Lebanese Ministry of Education.
