Arab Open University (AOU)

Students applying to AOU must submit an official application form at the Student Affairs office and attach the following documents:
- Certified copy of the Lebanese Baccalaureate or its equivalent.
- Copy of the Individual Information Record, copy of the Identity Card or copy of the Passport.
- Three (3) recent passport size, colored photos.
- Application fee of $60.
 
For non-Lebanese students, additional documents are required:
- Residency Permit (if applicable).
- Residency Certificate (issued by the mayor)
- Employment Certificate (if applicable)
- Proof of funding
- Equivalence of the Lebanese Baccalaureate by the Lebanese Ministry of Higher Education.
 
Placement Tests
All students are required to sit for an English placement test.
Students applying to join the Faculty of Computer Studies are required to sit for an additional math test.
Students applying to join the faculty of Education studies are required to sit for an additional arabic test.
The test results do not affect admission decision, but help place the student at the appropriate language and computer level.
 
Registration and placement tests fees
On the date of the placement test, students should pay the following amounts:

Owing to the financial support of the Arab Gulf Fund (AGFUND), the cost of one credit hour does not exceed $75. Packages are priced separately.

Dubai, Language and Religion

The official language is Arabic, but English and Urdu are also widely spoken Language, along with other languages like Persian, Hindi, Malayalam, Punjabi, and Tagalog. Islam is the official religion of all of the emirates. A vast majority of the locals are Sunnis. There are foreign minority Hindus, Sikhs, and Christians as well. Dubai is the only emirate that has Hindu temples and a sikh gurudwara.

Dubai Higher Education

English is the medium of instruction in most schools in Dubai. Annual fees for nursery and pre-school vary greatly.

Some primary schools conduct entrance tests. Most schools cater to one or more expatriate communities. MUBS The University uses the Credit System which is a systematic way of describing an educational program by attaching credits to its components. Under the Credit System each course is assigned a credit rating reflecting the number of weekly contact hours. In general, a three-credit course indicates three hours of lectures per week for one term. Credits also reflect the amount of effort required of the student and generally assumes two hours of personal study for each contact hour.
