RADIOLOGIC SCIENCES at Lebanese University

The Radiologic Sciences Department aims at teaching, training and graduating high-standard professionals in medical radiation; diagnostic radiography and nuclear medicine. The department also provides clinical and consultancy services to Medical Radiological centres in quality assurance, protocol development, and radiation protection.

Radiologic Sciences (RS) graduates will have the knowledge, skills and expertise to make them the backbone of activities performed in Diagnostic Radiology and Nuclear Medicine departments in hospitals and clinics. RS professionals play an essential role in producing quality images of the human body internal organs and systems using ionizing and non-ionising radiation for the purpose of diagnosing and treating various pathologies. They produce anatomo-structural and/or functional diagnostic images of using several imaging modalities e.g. projection x-radiography (film-based, computed, direct digital), computed tomography (CT), fluorography, ultrasonography (US), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), gamma camera, single-photon emission tomography (SPET), positron-emission tomography (PET), hybrid PET-CT and PET-MRI imaging systems. They can also perform quality control tests to check equipment performance.

During the 3-year 180 credits BS program, RS students undergo 156 theoretical and laboratory credits courses and seven (24 credits) clinical practicum (CP) courses.
